We are pleased to announce that ARWC was recently awarded funding through the Bureau of Reclamation’s WaterSMART Cooperative Watershed Management Program. This funding is part of the $8.9 million investment from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aimed at protecting watershed health and building more resilient water supplies across the West.
Project Overview: ARWC will use the funding to advance key restoration projects within the Arkansas River Basin. The initiative focuses on improving watershed health, enhancing water quality, and fostering community resilience to climate impacts. The project will bring together local stakeholders, including conservation groups, agricultural communities, and government agencies, to develop sustainable water management solutions.
Why It Matters: This project addresses critical water management challenges in the Arkansas River Basin, supporting both ecological restoration and the needs of local communities. By fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, ARWC aims to create a lasting impact on the region’s water resources and ecosystem health.
“This funding is a vital step forward in our mission to ensure the long-term health of the Arkansas River Basin,” said Jonathan Paklaian, ARWC Executive Director. “Through collaboration and innovation, we are building a more resilient future for our watershed and communities.”
