Do meaningful work for the places and people of this basin.

Why ARWC.

A small team doing big work across a big basin.

ARWC is a growing nonprofit with a clear mission: protect the water, forests, and communities of the Arkansas River Basin. We’re a team of watershed practitioners, foresters, and community organizers who care deeply about this place — and we’re looking for people who do too.

Working here means your work matters. You’ll see the forests you helped thin, the streams you helped restore, and the communities you helped prepare. You’ll work alongside partners across the basin — from federal agencies to local landowners — solving real problems with real impact.

We’re not a desk-only organization. Our team splits time between offices, home offices, and the field. We value flexibility, professional growth, and work-life balance — because the best work comes from people who are supported and engaged.

What we offer.

More than a job — a place to grow.

Mission-driven work

Everything we do protects real places and serves real communities. Your work has visible, tangible impact on the basin.

Competitive compensation

Competitive pay for the conservation sector, health insurance, life and disability coverage, SIMPLE IRA matching, and paid time off.

Flexibility

Hybrid work arrangements, home-office options, and a team that values work-life balance. We trust you to get the work done.

Small team, big impact

You won’t get lost in bureaucracy. Every team member plays a meaningful role, and your voice shapes the direction of the organization.

Professional development

We invest in our team through training, conferences, and opportunities to grow your skills and advance your career.

Field work

Get outside. Our staff spend real time in the field — treating forests, monitoring streams, and working alongside partners on the ground.

Our work is guided by five core values: Collaboration, Integrity, Resilience, Innovation, and Place-Based. They shape how we show up in every partnership, project, and community interaction — and they’re what we look for in the people who join our team.
